Imagine stepping into a venue buzzing with energy, where every corner is adorned with iconic VMA imagery and the spirit of music legends past and present. The atmosphere is electric, with colorful neon lights, giant projector screens showcasing the best moments from VMAs, and music pumping through the speakers, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Bring some institutional swag that you are willing to part with and trade it for some new gear from schools across Florida.
Institutional Spirit Chants
Employing spirit is key for each delegation and the conference overall. There are several opportunities for each institution to be recognized for their sprit efforts during the conference. Each institution will have the chance to showcase a quick (less than 1 minute) chant relevant to their own institution. Chants will be showcased during opening ceremony and judged by the following criteria:
- Energy: 1-10 points
- Creativity: 1-10 points
- Coordination: 1-5 points
- Max 25 spirit points

Delegates are asked to collect some of the following items and bring them to the conference to donate.

Flashlight with batteries = 10 points for each new flashlight with unused and sealed batteries
There is no limit on the number of snacks or flashlights delegates can bring. Donations will be benefiting Showering Love – Radical Hospitality for the Unhoused.
Clothespins Tradition
The LEAP clothespin tradition is the decoration and exchange of wooden clothespins. Throughout the conference, delegates will have the opportunity to present and trade clothespins with the other schools/students to share their energy and school spirit.
Each institution will earn 2 spirit points for each unique clothespin design they submit via Google form.
Clothespins can be submitted up until 12:00 PM Noon on Saturday, October 19th 2024. Any duplicated or altered designs will not be accepted for points.
The spirit committee will nominate the clothespin they believe “is” the most creative and the committee will narrow it down to the top 3 pins.
Roll Call Videos
Each institution should submit a video (song, skit, dance, chant, presentation, etc) that represents their school spirit and presents their delegation while showcasing their take on the conference theme. This video will be played during opening ceremonies and must:
- Please stay within 1.5 minutes or 90 seconds.
- Remain appropriate (no foul language, explicit material, or suggestive language)
- Not bash or disrespect any other institution in any way.
- Be submitted by 5:00pm EST, October 10, 2024.
Judging criteria:
- University Pride: 10 spirit points
- Correct video format and length: 5 spirit points
- Creativity: 10 spirit points
- Best incorporation of conference theme: 5 spirit points
- Submit on time and in correct manner: 5 spirit points
The following spirit points will be added to the top 3 winners' final score:
- 1st place: 100 spirit points
- 2nd place: 75 spirit points
- 3rd place: 50 spirit points

Awards
- 5 points will be awarded to the school that wins the Dance off or any other Competition or event described above.
- 10 points are awarded to each school that participates in the theme each day
- Day 1 theme: School Spirit
- Day 2 theme: MTV Iconic moments
Award Descriptions
- "Phresh Out the Runway Award": Given to the school most in theme
- "We are The World Award": recognizes school who collected the most philanthropy items
- "Hey Ya!" Award: recognizes school with the catchiest/most repeated chant
- (Roll Call) Video Vanguard Award: recognizes school with the most spirited roll call video
- "Smells Like School Spirit" Award: recognizes the school with the most spirit
- "What Was I Made For" Award: given to the school with the most creative clothespin
- “Best New Artist” Award: Audience voted best roll call video
