Summer Intern Housing

The application for Summer 2018 is now open!

This unique opportunity addresses the need for summer housing for student's interning in the Miami area. It allows summer interns to have flexible move-in and move-out dates and free them from worrying about furnishing a room or finding a lease/sublet for the summer. Companies in the Miami area who host interns during the summer months have a go-to option for housing those interns at the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. Minutes from the Metrorail and central to US-1, we are an ideal location for those coming to Miami for the summer.

Interns participating in the program can expect to have:

  • Lasting connections with other interns staying with us on campus

About Summer Intern Housing

Summer Intern Housing is available to undergraduate or graduate students who are currently enrolled at their home institution, will be enrolled at an institution for Fall 2018, and are seeking summer housing for an internship or summer program. A qualifying internship can be paid, un-paid, for credit or not-for credit. A qualifying summer program needs to be sponsored by the applicant’s institution of current enrollment, and demonstrate a significant professional or educational experience for the participant.

All applicants for summer intern housing must be 18 years of age or older by the scheduled check-in date. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a degree-seeking program and applicants must have internships with educational or professional relevance. Applicants may be required to provide proof of their health insurance when applying for housing. If you are using college or university insurance please make sure that this will cover you during your stay at the University of Miami. Applicants will need to provide appropriate documentation to prove age and employment status. To prove that you are 18 years of age or older, an original government issued ID will be required. To prove a student's employment status, please provide a signed letter from the hiring company’s Human Resources department or a signed statement from the supervisor.

Housing will be available in Pearson Residential College (room layout). Interns are able to select from the following room options: a single with a private bath, a double occupancy room as part of a suite with a shared bath, a single occupancy room as part of a suite with a shared bathroom. All of the following are included with your room rental at no additional cost:

  • Parking Permit for one vehicle
  • Wellness Center pass
  • Intern Outings to the local Miami area

Since we only accept full-time students, sales tax is not collected under FL Administrative Code 12-1.070(10) Sales and Use Tax. A copy of your transcript serves as proof of your enrollment and we reserve the right to cancel or remove your application should you not be currently enrolled at an institution of higher education. Recent graduates most be enrolled at an institution for fall semester and proof of such must be provided.

There is a 25% deposit due within five (5) business days of your application being approved. This percentage will be calculated and sent to you along with your approval notice. The remainder of your payment will be due within five (5) business days of your scheduled check-in time. We accept all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express) or company checks.

The institution will refund following this schedule: you may cancel your contract up to 30 days before your scheduled arrival at no penalty, if you cancel within 14-30 days of your arrival, we will refund your deposit (25% of total cost of stay), if you cancel within 14 days of your arrival or check-in to your space, no refund will be given. In order to cancel your contract, you must notify in writing of cancellation (via phone or in writing to any other person will not constitute cancellation) either by certified mail or email. Once you arrive no refunds will be provided, even if you shorten your stay. Extending your stay may result in additional costs.

    5. At the end you will be asked to pay a 25% deposit. This will secure your space for Summer 2018 and allow us to then review and approve your application.
